About Port of Stenungsund

Our port facilities

The Port of Stenungsund comprises of five port facilities: PetroPort, Vattenfall, Havden/Borouge International, Inovyn, and Talludden/NCC. All facilities are privately owned and exclusively serve their respective companies, handling maritime transport of raw materials and finished products.

For more information about each port facility, please see the Contacts section.

Port security

Security is a key priority in maritime operations. The port facilities comply with the ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code), which was introduced following amendments to the SOLAS Convention (Safety of Life at Sea) by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The primary objective of the ISPS Code is to protect maritime operations against external threats.

Security requirements are further regulated by the EU Regulation (EC) No 725/2004 on enhancing ship and port facility security, EU Directive 2005/65/EC on enhancing port security and the corresponding Swedish legislation.

The Port of Stenungsund and its port facilities are required to establish security plans based on port security assessments approved by the Swedish Transport Agency.

Three security levels apply: Level 1 (normal), Level 2 (heightened), and Level 3 (probable and imminent threat). The security level is determined by the Swedish Police National Operations Department (NOA). At Levels 2 and 3, additional security measures are implemented, including increased ID checks, inspections, and restricted access to port security areas.
